Choose a diamond mortar rake bit for hard cement mortar and long life, or a carbide rake bit for lime mortar and occasional use. M14 rake bits fit directly onto 115mm and 125mm angle grinders; drill-mounted rake bits suit SDS and chuck drills where a grinder is impractical.

    Why a rake bit rather than a blade

    • Routes both directions - horizontal bed joints and vertical perps with the same tool.
    • M14 fitting - threads straight onto the spindle of any standard angle grinder.
    • Controlled depth - easier to hold a consistent rake depth in irregular or historic brickwork.
    • Diamond tipped - far longer life than tungsten in hard cement mortar.

    What we stock

    The diamond mortar rake pin is the standard M14 rake for grinder work. For lime and softer historic mortar, the DR850 joint rake and the TR350 repointing tool cut with less risk to the brick face. The starter kit and repointing kit pair a rake with a depth-adjustable dust guard.

    Extraction is not optional

    Routing mortar throws a concentrated plume of respirable crystalline silica straight back at the operator. Fit a dust extraction guard to an M-class vacuum - it is a legal duty on site, and it keeps the joint line visible while you work.
